Crew

While the Fam Royal Crew wasn’t made the official crew moniker until 2009, the entire crew has been connected since early 2006. Around that time all members were converged in San Diego and found themselves quickly running in the same circles and DJing in the same clubs (notably the legendary San Diego bar Landlord Jim’s – R.I.P.). Shortly after Landlord Jim’s closed, it was apparent something had to be done to keep the vibe alive. Fam Royal quickly came together.

Fam Royal is dedicated to the art of moving butts, house party style throwdowns, deep underground shit that make you run up to check labels, and stupid funky cuts you don’t hear played nearly enough. If it’s funky, Fam’s on it. Fam Royal came together to rep for a mantra that wasn’t begin represented enough; good music comes FIRST – because good music transcends.

Fam’s roots span from Milwaukee to San Diego, from Hawaii to The Bay and beyond. Fam Royal’s original founding members were DJs Hippo, J.Blow and Myson King. Fam Royal quickly expanded to include Steven Flex and Broken Dreams. Fam also shares close affiliations with San Diego’s House Of Rep, and Designated Hittaz.

Fam Royal Crew has held down residencies in San Diego at Bar Basic, Bluefoot Bar & Lounge, Landlord Jim’s, El Dorado, Wits End, Live Wire, Bar Dynamite, Zenbu, Red C, Bondi, The Beauty Bar, The Morena Club, The W Hotel, Hennessey’s, Zensei Sushi, Kadan and Buster Daily’s to name a few.
