Hippo

Hippo is a founding member of Fam Royal and the SD Zoo crews and has been rocking San Diego for nearly a decade with his unique and versatile mix of Hip Hop, Funk, and Soul. He started out with house parties and back yard boogies and during a seven month hiatus in his hometown of Honolulu, he made the transition to bars and nightclubs. Since returning to San Diego in 2002, he has maintained residencies at countless venues including; Bar Basic, Landlord Jim’s, Wits End, Live Wire, Bar Dynamite, Zenbu, Red C, Beauty Bar, Morena Club, W Hotel, Hennessey’s, and Buster Daily’s. In addition to his regular gigs, he has performed one-offs for nearly every solid venue in San Diego. He had the only live, weekly, uncensored, hip-hop show on Pirate Radio 96.9 FM. He also regularly donates his talent to fund raisers in Los Angeles benefiting orphans, underprivileged children, and the homeless.
