Steven Flex

After discovering hip hop and breaking at a young age Steven Flex and his older brother started to scratch on their parents home stereo – ruining plenty of records in the process. At age of 14 Flex officially started djing, starting his first mobile crew “Network of Sound” with classmate DJ Black doing Jr. high and high school parties and dances. After graduating high school, he began spinning at The Playground 18 and up club. He also joined another mobile DJ crew “Smooth Concepts” with Smiley D and DJ Unique. Once he turned 21 he quickly moved on to the club scence. Beginning with a residency at 8 Ball and SRH’s Psyclone with Charlie Rock, DJ Marvin, & B Boy Grimm. He’s also spun at events with Chili & Flick, 3 Style Attractions, and many other promotion companies.He also DJed at SD’s historic B Boy summits.

Steven Flex is a founding member/DJ of LPSD (who made the SD classic,”Back at Cha”) with Icy Lee, Black Ran, & King D. He also runs J&S Entertainment with his partner J Supreme (who released the CD “The EPS Chronicles” in 2006). Flex also reps the Designated Hittaz crew with DJ Phil, L Dula, Kid Dragon, and Shaw One. He’s made numerous appearances on radio mixshows. Doing a weekly show with Taylor Tosh @ SDSU’s KCR radio and after that show ended, had another weekly show on KCR with Mike Soul. He’s also done guest spots on mix shows for Power 106′s Friday Night Flavas with Mr Choc, C Minus & DJ Vice, and Z 90 with DJ Rags, J Nelson, and DJ Unique. He also had a weekly at Landlord Jim’s for a few years which is where he met his future Fam Royal crewmates  Hippo, Myson King, and J.Blow.

Nowadays Steven Flex can be found at Bluefoot Bar every 1st Saturday day for No Gimmicks with J.Blow and every Thursday at Wit’s End for Shakedown an exclusively funk/soul night as well as many guest spots throughout San Diego on the regular.
